Bosnia
It has been an up and down Group B for Bosnia thus far, they opened against co-hosts with a confident display in which they came away with a 1-1 draw having taken the lead through Jovo Lukic before being pegged back by a late Cyle Larin strike.
They again played very well in game 2 against Switzerland and looked like taking something from the game before they fell apart after conceding to Johan Manzambi in the 74th minute and lost the game 4-1 in Los Angeles.
Despite that heavy defeat Sergej Barbarez’s side still find themselves in with a good chance of making the last 32. A Comfortable win against one of the competitions weakest teams should be enough for them to reach the knockout stages.
Injuries & Team News
Centre Back Tarik Muharemovic was dismissed against Switzerland and he will miss the game against Qatar through suspension.
With Muharemovic missing that opens up an opportunity for Dennis Hadzikadunic who had a successful spell on loan at Sampdoria in Serie B in 2025/26.
Edin Dzeko found it tough against the Swiss last time out but with more spaces expected against Qatar and this being the biggest game in Bosnia’s history his experience means he is likely to keep his place in the starting team.

Qatar
Qatar picked up an unexpected point int heir Group opener with Switzerland, they were dominated for long periods but an injury time own goal from Muro Muheim sent the minnows into delirium and gave us the first surprise of the 2026 World Cup.
It wasn’t so good on Matchday 2 when they took on the co-hosts Canada and everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Julen Lopetegui’s side. They were 2-0 down early on before they lost Homam Ahmed to a red card for a last man challenge that denied a goalscoring chance. By half time they were 3-0 down. They went on to lose 6-0 and finished with 9 men.
Due to the extended tournament structure they still have a very slim chance of making it to the last 32 and feature in the knockout rounds for the first time ever. However that would involve a win over Bosnia and a big swing in their current -6 goal difference.
Injuries & Team News
Lopeteui will have to do without Homam Ahmed & Assim Madibo, both of the players who were sent off against Canada.
There will have to be a change at the back, with Sultan Al Brake the favourite to replace Ahmed, while Madibo’s absence should open the door for Karim Boudiaf to come into the side.
Edmilson Junior is still waiting for his first goal for Qatar, but the expectation is that the 31-year-old will once again be in the starting side for this game.

Prediction
Bosnia 2-0 Qatar
For the most part Bosnia have looked a well coached team and they will be confident of claiming the win they need to make the last 32, they could not have picked a better opposition, Qatar look one of the weakest teams at the Tournament and they are missing 2 key players.
