Brazil

Brazil have not been at their vibrant best in this World Cup but the other teams will still be wary if the selecao. Carlo Ancelotti’s men topped the group on goal difference from Morocco and then dispatched Japan in the round of 32.

In the round of 32 they were handed what on paper looked a tricky tie against Japan and they fell behind on the half hour and it wasn’t until the 56th Minute they equalised through a Casemiro header. They eventually grabbed the winner through a Gabriel Martinelli winner in the 95th Minute.

Injuries & Team News

Barcelona star Raphinha will again miss out for Brazil through injury and there are doubts over both Lucas Paqueta & Casemiro. Both men were substituted gainst Japan

Reports suggest that Paqueta is likely to play there are bigger doubts over the participation of Casemiro. Should he miss out Douglas Santos will replace him.

Although Matheus Cunha could not add to his three goals before going off after 65 minutes, the Manchester United forward should retain his place in the XI, keeping Martinelli out of the side.

Norway

Norway were considered by many as genuine dark-horses for this tournament and they have shown just why so far in this tournament. They will head into this last 16 tie having won 3 of their 4 games to date with their defeatto France coming with a weakened team.

They began the group stage against the perceived weakest side and brushed Iraq aside by 4-1 with Erling Haaland scoring twice. Matchday 2 saw them face a confident Senegal and again the Norwegians entertained winning 3-2 with Haaland again at the double. They were beaten 4-1 by France but made mass changes.

The last 32 pitted them against Ivory Coast in what proved to be a gruelling contest they came out on the right side with a 2-1 win with Haaland netting in the 86th Minute to send them to face Brazil in New Jersey on Sunday.

Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson has not played since the matchday 2 win over Senegal, although he is close to returning from a thigh issue but isn’t expected to start here.

Haaland has scored 5 of the 10 goals scored by the Norwegians at this Tournament but his strike partners Antonio Nusa & Alexander Sorloth have both chipped in with vital goals.

Prediction

Brazil 1-2 Norway

I fancy the upset here, Brazil are not the fearsome team of old and they haven’t set the competition on fire as yet, Norway on the other hand have impressed and i think they will enjoy Brazil having more possesion and pick them off.
