England

England are aiming for a third successive World Cup Quarter Final appearance but face a tricky looking encounter away at co-hosts Mexico in the fortress that is the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.

Thomas Tuchel’s men topped Group L with a 4-2 victory over Croatia in the opening game before a dour 0-0 draw with Ghana. They finished the group stage with a routine 2-0 win over Panama with Jude Bellingham & Harry Kane on the scoresheet.

It was anything but straight forward in the round of 32 tie with DR Congo, The Three Lions fell behind inside 10 minutes and came up against an inspired Goalkeeper in Lionel Mpasi. It took until the 75th minute for Kane to find an equaliser and then he fired home a stunning winner to set up this clash in Mexico City.

Injuries & Team News

Anthony Gordon & Bukayo Saka made a big impact coming on as substitutes in the win over DR Congo and they are likely to replace the dissappointing Noni Madueke & Marcus Rashford in the starting side here.

Right back has been a real problem position for England with injuries to Tino Livramento & Reece James giving Tuchel plenty of problems but there is better news with Jarell Quansah fit again and he will start in the problem position.

Prediction

Mexico 1-2 England

Mexico have had a really good tournament so far but this is a huge step up in class when they face England. They have an impressive home record but heading to the Azteca will not face this England team and i believe their extra quality will shine through.
